The Galactic Federation of Light is a band composed of three friends who come together to create what they call "progressive-acid-space-rock."

"Its weird stuff, we're weird guys, we like to make weird music," said Richie Owen, drummer.

Owen and members Richie Rekow (vocals and guitar) and Andrew Wheaton (bass) formed the band in the Spring of 2009.

"Me and Richie used to hate each other," said Owen, "We used to get in fist fights."

After the enemies turned band-mates, The Galactic Federation of Light played their first show at Zippy's.

The group is musically influenced by bands like The Smiths, At the Drive-In and Why?, though their sound is very different.
"Our main goal is to make someone feel something," said Owen.

This place sounds like soooo much fun. I'd heard about Zippy's a bunch of times before, but you convinced me I have to go.

Keep up the local youth-focused reviews!
