Caramel, cinnamon and buttercream...Oh My!

Pave Bakery is like that, a little arbitrary, a lot addictive. Rows of chocolate chip muffins, ham and cheddar croissants, and morning glory muffins call me back at least three times a week. The catch is, not everything is baked every day, meaning there's always a reason to find a new favorite.
The morning glories, at $2.25 a piece are for "I'm going to eat healthier today" days. The size of softballs, their toasty exterior only reveals glimpses of the diced apples, shredded carrots, golden honey and coconut that make them Pave's most wholesome muffin, unless you count bran- but why go out for a bran muffin? The sticky buns and cinnamon rolls (big enough to feed two) are for the "well, I just won't eat for the rest of the day" days.
At Pave, you can get your choice of muffin, including not-to-be missed beauties like the Hawaiian, with miraculously crunchy macadamia nuts and just enough pineapple (?), for $2.25. Add on a scoop of fresh cut fruit salad (studded with strawberries or kiwis most days), and a coffee or tea, and you've got the best fresh breakfast in Everett for under $6.00.
If you want to branch out, the bakery does equally mouth-watering lunches. The sandwiches and wraps put Subway owners everywhere to shame. In the Southwest wrap, soft, chewy spinach tortillas, spilling over with mixed greens, tart olives, creamy guacamole, blood red tomatoes, black beans and Spanish rice, and a sprinkling of cheese are married by a sweet and spicy chipotle dressing.
The wraps are a little pricier at $8.00, but drag a friend along and both of you can dine well sharing the 'box' lunch for $11.00, which includes your choice wrap, pasta salad (Italian or pesto), a humungous snickerdoodle that will make you want to march into Safeway and crush the pathetic boxed version underfoot, and a choice of 20 oz. beverage. Just pour half into the cute little paper cups on the counter, and you're set.

You should definitely check out Pave's half-off specials on day old breads and muffins. They're perfect for students on a budget.
