Boots were first used by workers, who needed protection and sturdiness. Little did previous generations know that it would become a universal trend that would sweep across high fashion. Boots add to the some $25 billion shoe annual revenue the USA brings in, not even including other stylish countries.
I am pretty sure that the popularity of this fashion isn't going anywhere.
The greatest thing about them is they can spice up, or casual down, an entire outfit. When I'm wearing a simple pair of jeans and think the outfit needs a little oomph I toss on a pair of Cole Haans and the outfit totally changes. Same with a professional dress that would be a little too chic for school, putting on a pair of flat knee high boots makes the whole outfit less dressy.
Personally I prefer Nordstrom; its semi-annual and anniversary sales are about as addicting as Starbucks coffee. Other great stores are Nine West, Macy's and Aldo. Most stores are catching on that people are feening for this fashion item and stocking their shelves accordingly, even at places like Old Navy that used to be only flip-flop savvy.
Both genders can wear boots, so guys, don't feel left out. The industry is coming out with boots for men that are not just cowboy-esque. They have ankle high dress boots, great motorcycle boots that look like they can be casually worn regardless of if you ride, and "comfort boots" for everyday looks.
So, ladies and gentlemen, casual or chic, better get on the boot train and buy a pair. Boots may be made for walking, but they're sure not going anywhere soon.
