The red bus blues
Everett transit changes to come

In all, 17 complaints have been received by Everett Transit since it made the changes, including ten regarding lateness and one from a self-identified EvCC student.
Hingson attributes the problem to trip times that vary widely from 45 to 70 minutes. "Since Route 7 has been running so late, the 19 hasn't been on time. We will fix that soon. Our proposal is to
eliminate the 19 and run Route 7 all the way to the college," he says.
Hingson says that in addition to replacing the 19 with an extended 7 route, which would eliminate transfer delays, Everett Transit will also be increasing the time span for the 7 and 9 to run their routes, so that the buses will run on time more consistently. The target date for changes is March 28.
"We are committed to maintaining a sustainable local transit system. Not everything we try will be a success and one of the great things about a system our size is the ability to adjust in a timely
manner," says Hingson.
One recent, timely adjustment is a delay in implementation of a $5 fee ORCA card users will be required to pay if they need a new card. ORCA cards, which are now the only non-cash option for
riding Everett Transit, are currently free. The $5 fee, which was scheduled to be imposed Feb. 1., has been postponed until March 1.
Hingson is also eager to reassure transit customers concerned about severe service cuts proposed for Community Transit, that "Everett Transit will continue to be a 7 day a week transit agency."
Students with questions or concerns are invited to e-mail them to ETmail@ci.everett.wa.us.
