The Everett men's baseball team sits in fourth place in the NWAACC North Division (9-7) thanks to some excellent starting pitching.

The Trojans currently have three pitchers in the NWAACC top 15 for most strikeouts this season, which includes Keith Campbell (72), David Benson (52) and Arlo Evasick (37).

Campbell leads all of NWAACC in strikeouts and is ahead of the next pitcher on the list by 15 strikeouts.

Campbell likes to overpower hitters with his fastball that consistently reaches the low 90s miles per hour.

"For me I like to dominate the plate and go with a little swagger out on the mound," Campbell said. "Just showing [the opposing hitters] that I'm better than them and my fastball is going to beat them."

Campbell has a record of 4-0 and in 50 innings pitched has only given up seven earned runs (1.26 earned run average), and is just a freshman.

The new guy hasn't been the only one to put up the numbers as fellow pitchers Benson and Evasick have been dominating on the mound as well.

Evasick has a record of 5-1 while also contributing from the bullpen with two saves including a three inning save in which he struck out six batters against Bellevue Community College on April 14.

Benson is back this year after being a second team All-North Division pitcher last season.

Benson, Evasick and Campbell have all given quality outings in each of their appearances this year with a combined record of 13-4 and all show no fear when on the mound.

"There are certain types of pitchers on this team and I think that us three are the ones that don't feel pressure and don't get nervous," Campbell said. "That's because we are so confident in our game and the people that we have behind us that we can go out there and not get nervous and know that we are going to do good."

"It's a huge advantage when you know you are better than the hitter and all three of us have that approach," Benson said.

Evasick pitched an outstanding game his last outing against Olympic where he pitched a complete game shutout and gave up only two hits in the 10-0 victory.

Evasick is looking to lead this squad to something that he was also able to do as a senior at Chimacum High School, and that's win a championship.

"I hate to lose and I will not accept losing," Evasick said. "I think if NWAACCs were tomorrow I would be ready."
